The Deccan's Hindu population experienced chaos and discontent in the 17th century. People longed secretly for a savior to end injustice and give them land they could call their own. The liberator finally emerged.
After learning the Hindavi Swarajya concept, a young Maratha man rose to prominence. His name is "the Great Maratha Chhatrapati Shivji Mahraj" and his life story is Chhatrapati Sivaji. With the assistance of Hindavi Swarajya, the Marathas rose up to prominence on the Deccan Plateau.
From a small Jagir, he built a strong kingdom out of the declining Adilshahi Empire of Bijapur. He also fought against the Mughals and foreign powers. The Marathas were able to consolidate their territory under Shivaji Maharaj's direction during the Mughal Maratha Wars.
They were the first to use guerrilla warfare techniques and they eventually ruled large swathes Indian subcontinent.
Shivaji Maharaj left behind an effective, small-sized council of ministers as well as the responsibility for his father’s Jagir. He managed the estate well with the help of this council and established his base in Shivneri (a fort located near Pune).
His sixteenth conquest marks the beginning of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s life. He took the Torna Fort, and began to annexe the Adilshahi forts around Pune. Raigad, formerly Murumbadevacha Dongar, was his next target.
This fort was the most important part of Shivaji’s conquest. Shivaji Maharaj defeated the Adilshahi (in south) as well as the Mughals. (Photos, coins, and other photos - shah Jahan/Aurangzeb). He had little manpower and limited resources but he made up for it with his courage, brilliant insight, and the art of Kautilya Naeti of Chanakya.
Chhatrapati Shivaji scaled the ladder to protect the forts at the Konkan coast, Western Ghats. Numerous stamps in India feature the Life Story Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
India Post issued a commemorative stamp entitled 15 Naya Paisa Shivaji riding on horseback in 1961. Another commemorative stamp was released in 1974 to celebrate Shivaji's coronation. It was called "Rajya Abhishek". It was called "Rajya Abhishek".
Shivaji Maharaj established a capable and progressive civil government with the support of a disciplined, well-organized military. He pioneered the use of guerrilla warfare and other revolutionary military tactics.
He was clever enough to create a navy that would protect the coast. He became an invincible leader, securing the forts along the Konkan coast and Western Ghats coast. The Marathas established their territory under Shivaji Maharaj's direction and pioneered guerrilla war. Shivaji had already made him his king. He needed a greater recognition.
The coronation was required. Raigad Fort hosted the 13th day (trayodashi), which was the first fortnight of the month Jyeshtha on June 6, 1674. Shivaji was the first Maratha Empire Chhatrapati to assume the title of King. As a symbol of sovereignty, the Rajyaabhisheka Shaka (The Coronation Era) was created.
When Shivaji was Chhatrapati of Maratha Emperor, special coins called Shivrai (or Hon) were issued. These coins are made from copper, gold and silver. In Devnagari, they bear Shri Raja Siva (or Chhatrapati).
Inscription of the coins in Devnagari was an important step, since Persian was the dominant language at the time. These coins were in circulation up to the 19th century, mainly in the Bombay Presidency region. In 1999, the Reserve Bank of India issued coins depicting Shivaji's bust to his memory.
Shivaji's swarajya was accomplished with extreme hardships. Shivaji awakened his subjects from sleep to instill a desire for freedom in them.
Shivaji Maharaj created a kingdom so strong it was used as a plinth to the Maratha Empire which rose in 18th century. He only took 40 years to consolidate his kingdom. This is not the end for the Life Story Chhatrapati Shivji Mahraj.
Maratha power spread across the country over the next few decades. The visionary king's leadership led to the highest levels development and prosperity. Tag: Shaan Academy, Best Academy For IAS In Delhi, Top Academy For IAS In Delhi, Top Academy For UPSC In Delhi, Best UPSC Academy In Delhi
